Passed Pro-consumer Legislation that is now LAW:
  • The Affordable Care Act protections are now Delaware Law. Citizens no longer have to worry about insurance denials due to pre-existing conditions.
  • To address the rising costs of prescription drugs, Pharmacy Benefits Managers must now report financial information to the DOI just like an insurance company.
  • After years of increases in worker's compensation insurance, Delaware has experienced three consecutive years of decreased premiums.
Positive Changes Making a Difference for All Delaware Consumers:
  • After years of double digit increases in worker's compensation insurance, Delaware has experienced THREE consecutive years of decreased premiums.
  • The Department of Insurance worked in collaboration with DDHSS on a reinsurance plan that has just reduced health insurance premiums on the Marketplace by 19%.
  • Opened the first Sussex County DOI office in Georgetown and moved our Dover office to a new location to save taxpayers over $2 million dollars in rent.
  • Installed online “Live Chat” for consumers to get information in real time.
